April 8, 2024, Marks the Great North American Eclipse Day
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - On April 8, 2024, the Great North American Eclipse will traverse Arkansas, casting a fleeting shadow across the state. This extraordinary astronomical event is anticipated to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors, eager to witness the celestial spectacle.
The path of totality, where the moon completely blocks the sun's light, will cross through Arkansas from southwest to northeast. The peak of the eclipse is expected to occur at 1:58 pm CST.
To prepare for the influx of visitors and ensure a memorable experience, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is actively planning and coordinating efforts with local governments and emergency responders.
"We are working diligently to prepare for the eclipse and ensure the safety of both visitors and residents," said ARDOT Director Lorie Tudor. "We encourage everyone planning to travel to Arkansas for the eclipse to do so safely and responsibly."
