Extension Worth 321 Million Over Six Years

Dan Hurley Signs New Contract with UConn

Extension Worth $321 Million Over Six Years

After leading the UConn men's basketball team to its second NCAA title in as many seasons, head coach Dan Hurley has signed a new six-year contract worth $321 million. The deal, which pays Hurley an average of $53.5 million per year, tops out his previous contract.

Kentucky Rumors Not True

Despite rumors linking Hurley to the vacant head coaching position at Kentucky, the coach has denied any interest in the job. In a recent interview, Hurley said, "I'm very happy at UConn. We have a great program here, and I'm committed to building on our success."

Lakers Discussions

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly held preliminary discussions with Hurley about the possibility of replacing Frank Vogel as head coach. However, no official offer has been made, and it remains to be seen whether Hurley would be interested in leaving UConn.

Contract Extension Details

Hurley's new contract is the largest ever given to a college basketball coach. It includes a base salary of $5 million per year, plus performance bonuses and incentives. The contract also includes a buyout clause that would cost $20 million if Hurley were to leave before its expiration.

Hurley's Statement

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this program," said Hurley in a statement. "I believe in our players, our staff, and our university. Together, we will continue to strive for greatness."
