Reynaldo Lopez Leaves Start After One Inning
Chicago White Sox's Reynaldo Lopez was forced to leave his start against the Detroit Tigers after just one inning Tuesday night due to an injury.
Lopez was making his second start of the season after being called up from Triple-A Charlotte following an injury to Lance Lynn. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two batters in the first inning.
Lopez was visibly uncomfortable after throwing a pitch to Miguel Cabrera in the second inning and was immediately removed from the game. He was replaced by reliever Matt Foster.
The White Sox have not yet announced the extent of Lopez's injury, but he is expected to undergo an MRI on Wednesday.
The White Sox are already dealing with a number of injuries to their starting rotation. Lynn is expected to miss the next six to eight weeks with a right elbow strain, while Lucas Giolito is on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
The White Sox are now left with just four healthy starters: Dylan Cease, Michael Kopech, Johnny Cueto, and Davis Martin. The team may need to call up another starter from Triple-A Charlotte to fill Lopez's spot in the rotation.
The White Sox are currently 12-10 on the season and are in second place in the AL Central, 1.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins.
