Saskatchewan bracing for severe weather, thunderstorms

Residents urged to be prepared as system moves across province

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for much of Saskatchewan, as a system is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and large hail to the province.

The warning is in effect for the following areas:

  • Estevan
  • Weyburn
  • Regina
  • Moose Jaw
  • Swift Current
  • Saskatoon
  • Prince Albert

Environment Canada says the storm is expected to move across the province from west to east throughout the day. The heaviest rain is expected to fall in the afternoon and evening.

Residents are urged to be prepared for the storm and to take the following precautions:

  • Secure loose objects outside.
  • Have a plan in place in case of a power outage.
  • Stay away from windows and doors during the storm.
  • If you are caught outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building.
